System update
=============

Shell access is necessary for updating the software of the HemiStereo NX. So, if
you do not have access yes, please go to section :ref:`Getting shell access
<getting_shell_access>` for instructions.

The operating system of the HemiStereo NX 3D sensor is based on Ubuntu 18.04.
Therefore, the package management tool :code:`apt` is used to update the
operating system. You can update all packages by running:

.. code-block:: bash

    sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

All apps provided by 3dvisionlabs are also updated automatically by this
command. Some package updates requires a reboot, so reboot the device to finish
the update:
